The new limited edition helmet is the same one used by many EF Education EasyPost riders and has protected, performed and inspired in equal measure. It is now available in selected online and retail shops and on POCsports.com.
The limited edition helmet used by many EF Education EasyPost riders is now available. It offers the same protection and performance.
Lina Elfstrand, Chief Marketing Officer at POC, said at the launch of the limited 2024 collection:
"Dressed in pink, the fans of EF Education-EasyPost are more than just supporters; they are part of the team. If you watch a race, you will see many pink-coloured fans on the roadsides cheering on the riders through all the ups and downs. And we wanted to do their needs justice and give them even more reason and opportunity to feel part of the team with the new team edition for the 2024 season, so they can show their support on the road too."
Of course the helmet is pink, because that is the colour of EF Education-EasyPost. The helmet reflects the classic pink colour scheme in all its glory.
The special edition of the POC Ventral Air Mips is the same version that is available to EF Education-EasyPost riders. Designed to be extremely ventilated, lightweight yet highly protective, the Ventral Air Mips has already proven itself at the highest levels of WorldTour racing.
The helmet is designed to provide effective air circulation at both fast and slow speeds with precisely positioned ventilation holes and internal air channels. The design has been developed through CFD analyses for best aerodynamic efficiency and low air turbulence. In the event of a fall, the helmet has a mips system that protects the brain from rotational forces. The outer shell of the helmet consists of one part and covers the entire helmet, which ensures greater safety and integrity of the helmet. Inside the helmet shell is an EPS foam, the thickness of which has been specially adapted to be light but at the same time absorb shocks. Finally, the helmet has an easy adjustment system to customise the helmet to the head. The straps, which are attached to the helmet shell for additional safety, can also be adjusted. There is also a new goggle garage on the helmet.
Is that already smart? A TwICEme NFC chip for emergency medical data is integrated in the helmet.
The Ventral Air Mips EF Education-EasyPost Edition will be available with CE, CPSC and AS/NZS 2063 certifications.
In the editorial team, we tested a POC Ventral Mips helmet without NFC and also not in the team edition. Helmets are often too narrow on the tester's head, resulting in uncomfortable pressure on the side of the head. However, the next size up never fits as it cannot be adjusted so small. The Ventral from POC fits like a glove, at least without a cycling cap or hat under the helmet. With a cap or beanie, it's a bit tight again. Perhaps the tester's head is better suited to a wide-fit helmet (WF)? These are also available from POC, the Ventral Air WF Mips would be worth a try.
There is no loose strap end hanging around the chin strap, POC has solved this elegantly. However, you have to look more closely at the beginning to adjust the strap correctly.
The triangular strap, which runs around the ear, cannot be adjusted on all helmets. With POC, a "wrapped" strap ensures adjustability.
Conclusion: well-designed helmet that is comfortable to wear, lightweight and well ventilated. There is a wide-fit version for wide heads - but not in the Special EF Education EasyPost Edition.
