The new Giro Eclipse is the third model in the Spherical series from Giro.

The special feature of these helmets is the special installation of the Mips safety systemwhich minimises rotational forces in the event of an impact. Giro has integrated the system in such a way that, unlike many other Mips helmets, there is no plastic shell resting flat on the head - as is the case with the Giro Eclipse.

More wearing comfort

This makes the helmets more comfortable to wear. The top model "Aether Mips" won the helmet test in TOUR 9/2020 in the "Safety" category and was also one of the best in terms of ventilation and adjustment, with the small restriction that the adjustment wheel for the head width adjustment is small and somewhat stiff.

The Giro Eclipse is only a few grams heavier than the top model tested, but otherwise has an identical design, which should mean comparably good safety properties. In practice, Giro's typical good fit, which many cyclists can cope with, is pleasing. Giro charges 260 euros for the medium-weight helmet (280 grams), which is available in four colours.
