Trek Slash 8

The "Slash 8" model from Trek, released in 2022, is a high-quality mountain bike designed for challenging trails and descents. The price for this model is 3,899 EUR. The Slash 8’s frame is made from Alpha Platinum aluminium and features an internal storage compartment, a tapered head tube and the Knock Block 2.0, which limits head tube movement to prevent damage. Other features of the frame include internal Control Freak cable routing, a down tube guard, a Shuttle-Guard, a threaded bottom bracket and an ISCG 05 mount. The seat tube has a diameter of 34.9 mm and the magnesium derailleur hanger provides additional stability. Mino Link technology allows for easy adjustment of the geometry, whilst the ABP (Active Braking Pivot) system ensures improved braking performance. The frame is also equipped with Boost148 and offers 160 mm of travel.

The Slash 8’s maximum permissible weight is 136 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs in at 15 kg. The front and rear brakes are SRAM Code R hydraulic 4-piston disc brakes, fitted with 180 mm SRAM CenterLine discs. The fork is a RockShox Lyrik Select+ with DebonAir spring and Motion Control RC damping, offering 170 mm of travel. The shifter and drivetrain are SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed components. The crankset is a SRAM X1 Eagle with a 30-tooth steel chainring and a chainline of 55 mm.

The cassette is a SRAM Eagle XG-1275 with a range of 10–52 teeth. The handlebars are Bontrager Line aluminium bars, 820 mm wide with a rise of 27.5 mm. The grips are Bontrager XR Trail Pro with aluminium clamps. The stem is a Bontrager Elite, 35 mm long with a 0-degree angle. The integrated headset with Knock Block 2.0 has a radius of 72 degrees and sealed cartridge bearings.

The wheelset consists of Bontrager Line Comp 30 rims, which are tubeless-ready and feature a 6-hole disc mount. At the front is a Boost 110 hub with a 15 mm thru-axle; at the rear is a Boost 148 hub with a 12 mm thru-axle and a Rapid Drive 108 freehub. The saddle is a Bontrager Arvada with CrMo rails and a width of 138 mm. The seatpost is a TranzX JD-YSP39 with a 170 mm travel and internal cable routing.

The bike’s packaging dimensions are 23 mm wide, 85 mm high and 166 mm long.
