Trek Powerfly 5 Gen 3

Trek’s 2022 “Powerfly 5 Gen 3” is a versatile e-mountain bike that, at a price of 4,199 EUR, is positioned in the upper mid-range. The frame is made from Alpha Platinum aluminium and features a removable integrated battery (RIB), a tapered head tube, internal Control Freak cable routing and a Motor Armor to protect the motor. With a maximum permissible weight of 136 kg and a kerb weight of 22 kg, the bike provides a solid foundation for demanding rides.

The braking system comprises Shimano hydraulic 4-piston disc brakes (MT4100 brake levers and MT420 brake calipers) at both the front and rear, complemented by Shimano RT66 discs with a 6-hole mounting and a diameter of 203 mm. This ensures reliable and powerful braking performance.

The drivetrain features a Shimano Deore M6100 system, equipped with a 12-speed shifter and a cassette with a 10–51-tooth range. The fork is a RockShox Recon Silver RL with Solo Air suspension, Motion Control damper and lockout function. The handlebars are 750 mm wide Bontrager aluminium handlebars with a 15 mm rise, whilst the grips are Bontrager XR Endurance Comp with screw-on clamps. The stem is a Bontrager Comp model, Blendr-compatible, with a diameter of 31.8 mm, a 7-degree angle and a length of 70 mm. The headset is an FSA IS-2 with 1 1/8" at the top and 1.5" at the bottom.

The tyres are Bontrager XR3 Comp in size 29 x 2.30 (for sizes XS and S: 27.5 x 2.30) and the wheelset consists of Bontrager Kovee Comp 23. The saddle is a Bontrager Commuter Comp, mounted on a Bontrager aluminium seatpost with a diameter of 31.6 mm, a 12 mm offset and a length of 400 mm. The saddle is clamped using a bolt-on clamp with a diameter of 36.4 mm.

The Powerfly 5 Gen 3 is powered by a Bosch Performance CX motor with a magnesium housing, an output of 250 watts and a torque of 85 Nm. Assistance is provided up to a maximum speed of 25 km/h. The battery is a Bosch PowerTube with a capacity of 625 Wh and the display is a Bosch Purion. The charger is a standard Bosch charger with an output of 2 A and an input voltage of 100–240 V.

The frame geometry comprises a reach of 43 mm, a stack of 65 mm, a seat tube length of 47 mm, a top tube length of 64 mm, a head tube angle of 68 degrees, a head tube length of 14 mm, a chainstay length of 46 mm, a standover height of 82 mm and a wheelbase of 118 mm. The packaging dimensions are 23 mm wide, 119 mm high and 201 mm long.
