Trek Madone SL 6

The 2022 Trek Madone SL 6 is a high-quality road bike, priced at 5,099 EUR. The frame is made from 500 Series OCLV carbon and features the KVF (Kammtail Virtual Foil) tube profile, which ensures improved aerodynamics. The adjustable IsoSpeed on the top tube enhances comfort by dampening vibrations. The hidden cable routing and the aerodynamic 3S chain guide also contribute to optimised aerodynamics. The T47 bottom bracket and flat-mount disc brake mounts, as well as DuoTrap S compatibility and the 142 x 12 mm thru-axle, round off the well-thought-out frame design. The maximum rider weight is 125 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs just 8 kg.

The Madone SL 6’s braking system consists of Shimano Ultegra hydraulic disc brakes, fitted at both the front and rear with Centre Lock disc mounts and 160 mm rotors. The shift levers are also Shimano Ultegra R8020 and offer 11 speeds. The front derailleur is a Shimano Ultegra R8000 in the brazed-on version. The fork is a Madone full-carbon fork with a KVF profile and a tapered carbon steerer tube, also featuring hidden cable routing and a flat-mount disc brake mount.

The crankset is a Shimano Ultegra R8000 with a compact chainring (50/34) and a crank arm length of 172.5 mm. The bottom bracket is a threaded Praxis T47. The cassette is a Shimano Ultegra R8000 with an 11–30 tooth range for 11 speeds, and the drivetrain uses a Shimano Ultegra HG701 chain.

The handlebar setup consists of a Bontrager Elite Aero VR-CF aluminium handlebar with a width of 42 cm, a reach of 93 mm and a drop of 123 mm. The stem is a Bontrager Pro, 90 mm long with a 7-degree angle, and is Blendr-compatible. The tyres are Bontrager R3s in size 700 x 25, fitted to Aeolus Comp 50 wheelsets, which are tubeless-ready.

The saddle is a Bontrager Aeolus Comp with steel rails and a width of 145 mm. The seatpost is a Madone aerodynamic internal carbon seatpost with an integrated rear light mount and a 5 mm offset.

The bike’s packaging dimensions are 21 mm wide, 119 mm high and 189 mm long. The frame geometry comprises a reach of 39 mm, a stack of 54 mm, a seat tube length of 50 mm and a top tube length of 54 mm. The head tube angle is 73 degrees, and the seat tube angle is 74 degrees. The head tube length is 13 mm, the chainstay length 41 mm, the standover height 74 mm and the wheelbase is 98 mm.

The Trek Madone SL 6 is therefore a well-designed road bike that impresses in terms of aerodynamics, comfort and performance.
