Trek Fuel EX 7

The 2020 Trek Fuel EX 7 is a versatile mountain bike designed for challenging trails and varied terrain. It offers excellent value for money and costs 2,630 EUR.

The Fuel EX 7’s frame is made from Alpha Platinum Aluminium and features a tapered head tube, Knock Block technology, internal Control Freak cable routing and a down tube guard. The frame is also equipped with an ISCG 05 mount and features a magnesium lever, Mino Link, ABP and Boost 148 standard. The suspension travel is 130 mm. The bike’s maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 15 kg.

Braking performance is provided by Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. MT401 brake levers and MT400 brake calipers are fitted at both the front and rear, complemented by Shimano RT56 discs with a 6-hole mounting and a diameter of 180 mm.

The gear system is equipped with an SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed shifter, which enables precise gear changes. The fork is a RockShox 35 Gold with DebonAir suspension and Motion Control damping. It features a tapered steerer tube, a 44 mm offset and a Boost110 mount with a 15 mm Maxle Stealth axle, as well as 160 mm of travel.

The crankset consists of an SRAM NX Eagle DUB with a steel chainring (30 teeth) and a Boost mount. The length is 175 mm, whilst the bottom bracket is a SRAM DUB with a 92 mm PressFit. The cassette is a SRAM PG-1230 Eagle with a 11–50-tooth range and is also 12-speed.

The bike’s handlebars are made of aluminium, have a diameter of 31.8 mm, a rise of 15 mm and a width of 750 mm. The grips are Bontrager XR Trail Comp with nylon clamps. The stem is a Bontrager Rhythm Comp with Knock Block, has a diameter of 31.8 mm, an angle of 0 degrees and a length of 50 mm. The headset features integrated compact bearings with Knock Block, 1 1/8" at the top and 1.5" at the bottom.

The tyres are Bontrager XR4 Team Issue, Tubeless Ready, with Inner Strength sidewall protection, an aramid bead core and a TPI of 120. The size is 29 x 2.60 inches. The wheelset is a Bontrager Line Comp 30, also Tubeless Ready, with a 6-hole disc mount, Boost110 at the front and Boost148 at the rear.

The saddle is a Bontrager Arvada with steel rails and a width of 138 mm. The seatpost is a TranzX JD-YSP18 with 130 mm of travel, internal cable routing, a diameter of 31.6 mm and a length of 425 mm. The saddle is clamped using a bolt-on clamp with a diameter of 36.4 mm.

The packaging dimensions are 23 mm wide, 75 mm high and 155 mm long. The bike has a reach of 46 mm, a stack of 61 mm, a seat tube length of 44 mm, a top tube length of 62 mm, a head tube angle of 66 degrees, a seat tube angle of 76 degrees, a head tube length of 10 mm, a chainstay length of 44 mm, a standover height of 75 mm and a wheelbase of 120 mm.
