Lapierre XR 7.9

The 2022 Lapierre XR 7.9 is a high-quality mountain bike priced at 4599 EUR, placing it in the upper mid-range. The bike’s frame is made from New XR full carbon with 100 mm of travel and is designed for 29-inch wheels. It features a press-fit construction, Boost standard and a metric thru-axle, which ensure increased stiffness and efficiency.

Braking performance is provided by SRAM LEVEL TL 2-piston brakes, which ensure reliable stopping power. The drivetrain is powered by the high-end SRAM X01 Eagle 12-speed system, complemented by the SRAM GX Lunar Eagle shifter, which enables precise gear changes. Front suspension is provided by the Fox 32 SC Perf-Series Float fork with 100 mm of travel and a 44 mm rake, whilst the FOX FLOAT DPS shock at the rear ensures a smooth ride.

The bike is fitted with FPD NW-91K steel-cage pedals and features a SRAM DUB Pressfit MTB 92 bottom bracket. The crankset consists of the SRAM GX Lunar EAGLE BOOST148 DUB BLACK with a 34T chainring, and the length varies depending on the frame size. The SRAM XG1275 cassette offers a gear range of 10–52T across 12 speeds, which, together with the SRAM NX Eagle drivetrain, ensures efficient power transfer.

The handlebars are Progress Carbon UD Flat, 740 mm wide and 31.8 mm in diameter, whilst the grips are Lapierre ‘Fit’ grips, available in various sizes depending on frame size. The stem is made from Lapierre aluminium, has a 7° angle and varies in length between 60 mm and 70 mm depending on frame size. The headset is an FSA Integrated 1.5ZS IS-2 /42/ACB hidden set.

Contact with the ground is provided by Maxxis Rekon Race EXO TR tyres in size 29x2.35, fitted to a DT Swiss X1900 Spline wheelset. The saddle is a black Fizik Taiga, fitted to a Lapierre aluminium seatpost with a diameter of 31.6 mm and a length of 400 mm. Overall, the Lapierre XR 7.9 offers a balanced combination of lightness, robustness and performance, ideal for discerning mountain bike enthusiasts.
