Lapierre XR 5.9

The "XR 5.9" model from Lapierre, released in 2022, is a high-quality mountain bike that stands out for its technical specifications and well-thought-out design. The frame is made from New XR full carbon with 100 mm of travel, ensuring an optimal balance between lightness and stability. The frame is also fitted with a PressFit bottom bracket, Boost standard and a metric thru-axle, which enhance the bike’s stiffness and efficiency.

Braking performance is provided by the SRAM LEVEL T dual-piston brakes, which offer reliable control even on challenging descents. Gear changes are handled by the SRAM GX Lunar Eagle 12-speed drivetrain, whilst the SRAM SX Eagle shifter also offers 12 speeds, enabling precise and smooth gear changes. The Fox Rhythm 32 Float fork, with 100 mm of travel and 44 mm of rake, combined with the FOX FLOAT DPS shock, delivers outstanding suspension performance.

The bike is fitted with FPD NW-91K steel-cage pedals and features a SRAM DUB Pressfit MTB 92 bottom bracket. The crankset is a SRAM SX Eagle Boost 148 DUB with 12 speeds and a 32T chainring, available in 170 mm for size S and 175 mm for sizes M/L/XL. The cassette is a SRAM PG1210 with an 11–50T range and is also designed for 12-speed use.

The handlebars are made from Lapierre 6061 alloy and are a top-flat design with a width of 720 mm and a diameter of 31.8 mm. The grips are Lapierre ‘Fit’ grips, which are adapted to different sizes depending on the frame size. The stem is also made from Lapierre Alloy and has a 7° angle, with the length varying according to frame size: 60 mm for S/M and 70 mm for L/XL.

The 29-inch Mavic XC 425 rims with 32 spokes are robust and lightweight, whilst the 29x2.35 Maxxis Rekon Race EXO TR tyres provide excellent traction on a variety of terrains. The hubs are specially manufactured for Lapierre by Fastace; the front hub is Boost standard with dimensions of 15x110 mm, whilst the rear hub features four sealed bearings and is also Boost standard with dimensions of 12x148 mm.

The saddle is a black Fizik Taiga, which offers comfort even on long rides. The seatpost is made from Lapierre Alloy Forged, with a diameter of 31.6 mm and a length of 400 mm. Priced at EUR 3,799, the Lapierre XR 5.9 offers excellent value for money for ambitious mountain bikers who value both technical sophistication and performance.
