Lapierre Spicy 4.9

The 2022 Lapierre Spicy 4.9 is a mountain bike designed specifically for challenging trails and enduro riding. Priced at 3,699 euros, this model offers a solid spec and high-quality components that ensure a dynamic riding experience. The frame is made from Spicy Fit Supreme 6 aluminium and, depending on the wheel size, offers 170 mm of travel for 27.5-inch wheels or 160 mm for 29-inch wheels. The design is geared towards durability and stability, with features such as a PressFit bottom bracket, Boost standard and a metric thru-axle.

The Spicy 4.9’s brakes are from SRAM and are the G2 R Diffusion Black models with four pistons, ensuring reliable braking performance. The drivetrain is a 12-speed SRAM GX Lunar Eagle, combined with an SRAM NX Eagle MatchMaker shifter, enabling precise gear changes. The RockShox ZEB R Charger R fork, with its DebonAir™ system, offers 170 mm of travel on the 29-inch version, whilst the RockShox Super Deluxe Coil Select R shock, with a trunnion mount, ensures smooth suspension.

For the drivetrain, the bike is fitted with a SRAM Descendant 7K Eagle crankset, available in various lengths depending on frame size. The cassette is a SRAM PG1210 Eagle with a range of 11–50 teeth. The pedals are FPD NW-91K with a steel cage, which ensure a good connection between rider and bike.

The Spicy 4.9’s cockpit consists of a Lapierre aluminium handlebar with variable width and rise depending on size, complemented by Lapierre “Fit” grips. The stem is also made from CNC-machined aluminium and is available in various lengths. The FSA Orbit Zero Stack headset contributes to precise steering.

The Mavic EX630 rims are tubeless-ready and are paired with Maxxis tyres: an Assegai EXO TR at the front and a Minion DHR II EXO TR at the rear, both in 29-inch size. The hubs are by Lapierre and offer high durability thanks to their sealed bearings.

The bike is rounded off with a Lapierre Crmo saddle by Velo and a Lapierre dropper seatpost with a travel of 130 mm for sizes S/M and 150 mm for L/XL. Overall, the Lapierre Spicy 4.9 offers a well-thought-out specification that makes it a high-performance partner for demanding mountain bike adventures.
