Lapierre Edge 5.9

The 2022 Lapierre Edge 5.9 is a mountain bike which, at a price of 759 euros, represents an attractive option for beginners and advanced riders alike. The bike’s frame is made from an Edge 29" Supreme 5 aluminium alloy and, thanks to its internal cable routing, has a clean, tidy appearance. The Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes ensure reliable braking performance in a variety of conditions.

The gear system comprises a 9-speed Shimano Altus Shadow RD-M2000, complemented by the Shimano Altus STEF505 shifter and the Shimano Altus FD-M2020 front derailleur with a side-swing mechanism. These components enable precise and smooth gear changes. The RST BLAZE RL-DS RL fork, with 100 mm of travel, contributes to a comfortable ride on uneven terrain.

The bike is fitted with Xerama SP-400 pedals and a 122 mm square bottom bracket. The Shimano FC-MT101 crankset features 36- and 22-tooth chainrings, with the crank arm length varying depending on frame size: 170 mm for XS/S and 175 mm for M/L/XL. The Sunrace CSM90 cassette, with a 11–36T range, supports a versatile gear ratio. The drivetrain is completed by the KMC X9 chain.

The handlebars are made from XLC 6061 aluminium, have a flat top and measure 720 mm in width with a diameter of 31.8 mm. The Herrmans Lock-on DD30B grips provide a secure grip and are 130 mm long. The XLC aluminium stem has a 6° angle of inclination and a length of 60 mm. The semi-integrated FSA NO.10 headset rounds off the handling.

The wheels feature Lapierre Disc rims with 32 spokes and a diameter of 29 inches. The tyres are Schwalbe Tough Tom at the front and Schwalbe Rapid Rob at the rear, both in size 29x2.25, which ensures good grip. The hubs are Shimano HBTX505 models with Centre Lock mounts and quick-release mechanisms.

The saddle is from XLC by DDK and is held in place by an XLC aluminium seatpost, which has a diameter of 31.6 mm and a length of 400 mm. Overall, the Lapierre Edge 5.9 offers a well-thought-out package of features and performance, making it particularly suitable for riders who are new to mountain biking or wish to develop their skills further.
