KTM CHICAGO 272

The "CHICAGO 272" model from KTM, released in 2022, is a versatile mountain bike available for 699 EUR. It features a robust 27.5" 6061 alloy MTB frame (M-1100-M) and has a maximum load capacity of 134 kg. The bike’s kerb weight is 15 kg, making it a stable yet easy-to-handle choice for various types of terrain.

The braking system consists of Shimano Acera EF505 / MT200 brakes, complemented by Shimano RT10 CL brake discs with a diameter of 180 mm at the front and 160 mm at the rear, ensuring reliable braking performance. Gear shifting is handled by the Shimano Tourney TX800-SGS system, featuring Shimano Altus EF505 shift levers and a Shimano Altus M313 front derailleur. In total, the rider has 24 gears at their disposal, allowing for flexible adaptation to different route profiles.

The bike’s fork is a Suntour SF19-XCE28 DS, which provides improved shock absorption and a more comfortable ride. The pedals are KTM LINE MTB BF, and the crankset consists of a Shimano Tourney TY301 with 42-34-22T chainrings. The cassette is a Shimano Tourney HG200-8 with 12-32T, and the drivetrain is powered by a KMC Z8.3 chain.

For steering, the model is fitted with a KTM LINE Riser 12 handlebar and KTM LINE MTB grips. The stem is a KTM LINE with a 7° angle, and the headset is a RITCHEY Zero Logic PRESS FIT 1-1/8". The tyres are IMPAC SMARTPAC TwinSkin 54-584 in black, fitted to both the front and rear.

The front wheelset consists of a combination of a KTM Line – Shimano Tourney HB-TX505 CL 32H 100 QR hub and KTM 27.5" Sport 32H rims (587x20), as well as Pillar 2.0 INOX silver spokes. The rear wheel has a similar build, featuring a Shimano Tourney FH-TX505-8 CL 32H 135 QR hub and the same rims and spokes as the front.

The saddle is a KTM LINE SPORT, mounted on a KTM LINE seatpost with a diameter of 27.2 mm. Overall, the “CHICAGO 272” offers a well-thought-out specification that is suitable for both beginners and experienced mountain bikers.
