GIANT Defy Advanced 1

The "Defy Advanced 1" model from GIANT, released in 2023, is a high-quality road bike that stands out for its advanced features and build quality. The frame is made from Advanced Carbon and offers tyre clearance of up to 35 mm, allowing for great flexibility when choosing tyres. The fork is also made from full carbon and features the OverDrive1 system as well as a 12x100 mm axle, which ensures additional stability and precision.

The braking system comprises Shimano 105 Di2 HRD disc brakes with a 160 mm diameter at the front and 140 mm at the rear, which, in combination with the Shimano 105 Di2 brake levers, deliver reliable and precise braking performance. The gear system is also from the Shimano 105 Di2 series and offers 12 gears on the rear cassette and 2 gears at the front, controlled by Shimano 105 Di2 shifters. The front derailleur is also a Shimano 105 Di2, ensuring seamless gear-changing performance.

The crankset consists of a Shimano RS520 with 50/34T chainrings, and the bottom bracket is a Shimano Pressfit, which, together with the KMC X-12 chain, ensures an efficient drivetrain. The rear cassette is a Shimano 105 with an 11–34T range, offering a wide variety of gears for different terrain profiles.

The bike’s cockpit comprises a GIANT Contact SL D-Fuse handlebar, fitted with GIANT Stratus Lite 3.0 grips, and a GIANT Contact stem. The wheels feature GIANT P-R2 Disc rims, which are tubeless-ready and fitted with GIANT Gavia Fondo 1 tyres in size 700x32c. These tyres are also tubeless-ready and have a TPI of 60. The bike is supplied tubeless, which reduces weight and increases puncture resistance.

The hubs and spokes are also part of the GIANT P-R2 Disc system, ensuring consistent and reliable performance. The saddle is a GIANT Approach, mounted on a GIANT Contact D-Fuse seatpost, which provides additional comfort on long rides.

In addition to the standard specification, the bike comes with a tubeless kit containing sealant, valves, tyre levers, a valve core tool and an instruction manual. Pedals are not included and must be purchased separately.
