Price plus performance = Canyon: The Endurace 7 almost completely fulfils this formula, which is particularly popular among German-speaking road cyclists. Because there is hardly a better bike for less money at the moment. The classic marathon bike stands out from its aluminium competitors thanks to its excellent suspension comfort and is up to 1000 euros cheaper than the most expensive bike in the test.
What a difference a small part can make: The Koblenz-based company is the only manufacturer in this comparison to give its aluminium racer a carbon seatpost, and the Endurace promptly irons over bumps in the road surface the best. The fact that the Canyon doesn't stand out more clearly from the competition in terms of suspension comfort is due to the unyielding carbon fork. However, the standard tyres, 30 millimetres wide at the front and 32 millimetres at the rear, compensate for this - at least at the rear. You can even fit tyres up to 35 millimetres wide.
The emphatically upright riding position emphasises the long-distance character of the bike, on whose top tube a small bag for a mini-tool or smartphone can be mounted. Although the frame and wheels are among the lighter models, the Canyon also has a nine in front of the decimal point when it comes to overall weight.
Strengths: Very good rear suspension, large tyre clearance, eight sizes
Weaknesses: "sticky" saddle
>> The Caynon Endurace 7 receives an overall TOUR score of 2.3, making it one of the test winners.
