For three years now, Canyon has also been offering the Ultimate as an exclusive CFR version. The abbreviation stands for "Canyon Factory Racing" and is given to models that differ from cheaper versions in terms of equipment and carbon quality. Specifically for our test bike, this means a slightly lighter frameset, the weight advantage of almost 30 grams compared to the CF SLX (TOUR 10/2022) is manageable, however.
Overall, the frame and fork of the Ultimate in its chic replica paintwork are among the lightest on the market. The fact that the overall weight is not the best is due to the comparatively heavy aero wheels. However, these hardly detract from the riding pleasure. On the contrary: the Canyon feels equally at home on flat terrain and uphill and is one of the aerodynamically better bikes in the test. It also smoothes out bumps excellently and delivers outstanding stiffness values. With top scores in these disciplines, the Ultimate CFR only just missed out on the test victory.
By the way: If you are looking for an (even) lower weight and can make compromises in terms of aerodynamics, Canyon has a version with ultra-light Mon-Chasseral wheels and a total weight of 6.3 kilos.
*Weighed weights.
