The Pro Mechanic HD is the top model among the repair stands from Feedback Sports (the manufacturer used to be called Ultimate) and builds on its predecessor, the Pro Elite. Its high load capacity of 45 kilograms with a comparatively light weight of 8 kilograms coupled with its high quality workmanship and easy handling is remarkable. As a limited anniversary edition, the Pro Mechanic HD will cost 479 euros.
Although we have not yet tested the limited luxury version, we have tested the standard version with the red anodised aluminium tubes typical of the manufacturer Feedback. This model proved its worth in our last practical test.
Admittedly, Feedback's new Pro Mechanic HD heavy-duty kickstand with a load capacity of 45 kilos is actually oversized for slim and lightweight road bikes. However, the stand made of anodised aluminium, which weighs a good eight kilos, does not get out of step. It holds bikes of all categories securely in its claw, which can be operated with one hand and is equipped with jaw protectors to protect the paintwork from scratches. Its tried-and-tested quick-release mechanism is practical, releasing the wheel with a flick of the trigger. We liked the very clean workmanship and the high mechanical quality of the telescopic tubes, the folding feet, the clamping mechanism and its high-quality finish overall. Due to its price, the robust and durable assembly assistant is particularly worthwhile for frequent wrenchers and tool enthusiasts who have heavy pedelecs or e-mountainbikes in their fleet alongside light racing bikes - which the Feedback can easily handle.
In direct comparison with the HD version, the two-kilo lighter Pro Mechanic and can impress with its equally practical handling. The difference is its load capacity, which is a good ten kilos lower due to the two kilos of material saved, its correspondingly lower stability and its smaller pack size when not in use. Its price: 395 euros.
The huge range of spare parts from the manufacturer Feedback Sport deserves praise. Starting with the three-euro dust cap and clamps for all tube dimensions through to the aluminium adjustment wheel for the clamping mechanism, this includes every single part for all mounting stands and is extremely easy to service.
