Disc brakes require special tools for fitting the hydraulic lines, such as the new Elite Hydraulic Hose Cutter and the Pro Needle Driver from Jagwire.

We tried out both disc brake tools on various test bikes in the TOUR lab. The workshop crew is unreservedly enthusiastic about the cutter (pictured right): It sits very well in the hand, cuts hydraulic lines like butter and leaves a clean cut edge. The judgement is more critical to the Pro Needle Driver, which is used to press the sleeves into the cables: The testers praise the ease of use and clean workmanship, but would like a better view of the process and a knurled screw instead of the eccentric lever, which would make it easier to control the pressing process.
