TIPS
Clean up: It is advisable to wash the brake calliper after riding in the rain and otherwise every few hundred kilometres. Only use water with a little soap. Allow the bike to dry thoroughly; turn the wheels once or twice during this process so that the brake disc does not corrode in one place.
Stay oil-free: Oil on the brake disc must be removed immediately with isopropyl alcohol or brake cleaner. Oily pads must be replaced.
Stay on top: Transport and store the road bike so that the brake levers are at the highest point. Upside down, air can get into the pipe system and render the brake ineffective.
Secure transport: With the wheels removed, insert spacers into the brake callipers. Then pull the brake levers to build up pressure in the system and secure the lever to the handlebars with a rubber.
lever to the handlebars with a rubber. This will prevent the pads from being compressed and the wheel from being difficult or impossible to mount - and prevent air from getting into the system.
Quick check: Pull both brake levers before every journey after storage or transport. Check the pressure point and lever travel. If the wheel was removed, it may take one or two strokes until the pads are in contact with the disc. More than this indicates air in the system.
