Tool:
- Hexagon socket spanner
- Mavic bearing spanner
- if necessary puller tool from DT
Auxiliary materials:
- Brand-specific bearing greases, freewheel greases or freewheel oils
- Cotton cloth
TIPS:
- Save:
Good disassembly tools for the sprocket fastening nut have an integrated guide. This prevents the tool from slipping off. On guide-less models, insert the quick release from the opposite side and secure the tool with the nut of the quick release.
- Small parts:
If you are working on hubs, place a larger cloth on the workbench. If a small part falls, it will remain on the cloth and will not roll off the table.
- Mavic:
If you feel that the bearings on your Mavic wheels are too tight or the axle does not rotate perfectly, open the cap one turn with the Mavic tool. Remove the wheel, remove the quick release and give the axle a light tap with a rubber mallet from the adjustment side to loosen the bearing preload. Then adjust the bearing play as described.
