With complete wheels, you actually assume that the system consisting of hub, rim and spokes is ready to ride when you pick it up from the shop. However, according to the numerous experiences that TOUR has gathered in the recent past, this is only half the truth. More and more rims, for example, have a rim base that is suitable for tubeless tyres as well as clincher or folding tyres. The rim base has no spoke holes, which at least eliminates the risk of the inner tube being damaged by sharp-edged, uncleanly deburred holes. However, because it is theoretically possible and can also save weight, many manufacturers supply these wheels without rim tape. This may often work without any problems, but in some situations the lack of rim tape proves to be a serious flaw, even with tubeless rims.
Treat your tubeless rims to this simple and inexpensive but important protective layer against the destructive heat of braking - for your own safety, as sudden punctures can have serious consequences. Therefore, prepare your wheelset carefully for use, look after your wheels well and maintain them regularly.
