It's not easy for those who fall outside the norm. Tall road cyclists know that millimetres often matter when it comes to finding a good riding position on the bike. TOUR gives tips on how to adjust.

TIPS

- Experience has shown that seat posts with two bolts last longer. Although patented seat posts with one bolt pointing vertically upwards are easier to use, they are not recommended.

- Always use handlebars and stems from the same manufacturer and, if possible, from the same product line. In our experience, these combinations are compatible and have been tested as such.

- Of course, there are no special tyres for tall people, but tall people are usually also heavy. That's why we recommend 24 or 25 millimetre wide road bike tyres, possibly even 28 millimetre tyres.

Saddle position

Seat posts cannot be extended as far as required. Be sure to observe the marking for the maximum extension length. The end of the seat post in the seat tube must extend at least as far as under the top tube. If the seat post is too short, the frame may break.

Handlebar position

Instead of pushing the saddle far back, a longer stem often helps to make the position more comfortable. Stems are available from around 60 to 140 mm in length.
