If the two edges between the lines are aligned, the tension of the front derailleur is correct.
After the Dura-Ace 9100, Shimano's new Ultegra and 105 groupsets are also getting a front derailleur whose setting differs from the previous procedure, and not just because of a third adjusting screw. We show you how to adjust the new technology

Level of difficultyfor talented hobby mechanics

Tool
- Hexagon socket spanner (2, 4 and 5 mm)
- Torque spanner with bits
- Pliers and cable cutter if necessary

TIPS

- Function test: Test the front derailleur thoroughly in the basic setting. Shift from the large to the small crankset several times in the assembly stand at different crank speeds when the largest sprocket is on the rear. The reverse case - smallest sprocket at the rear and change from the small to the large chainring - must also be possible without dropping the chain.

- Test drive: After adjustment, check the function thoroughly during a test drive away from road traffic.

- Control: Use a torque spanner to check the bolts of the cable fastenings and the fastening of the rear derailleur and front derailleur after 100 to 300 km and then every 2,000 km.

- Exchange part: The plastic guide rail on the inner guide plate can be replaced on the new derailleurs. Its wear also affects the shifting behaviour, which is why you should check it regularly and replace it if necessary.
