Winter is the right time for difficult maintenance work - for example on Campagnolo's Ergopower levers. The speciality: With the shift brake levers, you can reorder and replace any wearing part. Sometimes all it takes is a little grease and the problem is solved. We show you how to dismantle Campagnolo's levers.
Degree of difficulty: for experienced screwdrivers
You will need:
GOOD TO KNOW
Tip 1:
The different generations and models of Campa's Ergopower levers are compatible with each other - at least to a certain extent. For example, you can turn an eight-speed lever into a ten-speed lever by replacing just a few components, and components from the Veloce lever also fit into the Record lever. Details (including spare part numbers for ordering!) can be found at www.campagnolo.com.
Tip 2:
Helpful: the exploded view of the handle in the original spare parts catalogue (www.campagnolo.com), which shows all components in the correct assembly sequence.
Tip 3:
Dismantle the handle in a tidy and clean workplace so that you can find any small parts that may jump out. Make a note of the exact order in which you dismantle the switch. Count the washers and place all the individual parts in sequence on the work surface.
DISASSEMBLY
ASSEMBLY - the most difficult steps
Tip:
Lightly grease all components (in contrast to our photo series). It is not the quantity of high-quality lithium grease that counts, but the distribution.
Do not try to force the individual parts together - keep trying until they fit together easily.
