The shoe and pedal form the coupling between the human motor and the bicycle machine. The pedal plates are the most important connecting piece. TOUR gives tips on how to mount the cleats safely - so that the power transmission works as efficiently as possible.

The most important tips at a glance:

  • Plastic plates must be replaced regularly. Before replacing, draw the Outline of the old panels onto the base, then it is easier to fit the new panels.
  • With many pedals, the ResistanceThe pedals release the shoe and can be adjusted using small screws. Clockwise is usually tightened more, anti-clockwise less. If there is no display, count the clicks or revolutions. This is the only way to achieve the same tension on both pedals.
  • Check the bolts after about 100 to 300 kilometres. The plates work their way into the sole a little, the Clamping force of the screws loosens. If the plates are loose, this can make it difficult or impossible to remove the shoe from the pedal.
  • Creaking pedal plates are annoying. If wear and tear is not the reason, try something Bearing grease at the tip of the plate and the rear clamping flap.
