TIPS

- Distance: The mudguards should be at least one centimetre away from the tyre - the coarser the tread, the greater the distance, otherwise there is a risk of wheel lock-up.

- Share: Long mudguards for fixed mounting can be split with some manual dexterity. However, you will have to make your own brackets to bridge the brake bridge on the rear wheel and the fork. Alternatively, slightly longer detachable mudguards are available, for example the Raceblade long from SKS.

- Crosser: On cross bikes, the frame and forks typically leave more space for the wheels so that dirt does not immediately block the bike. They are therefore ideal as winter training frames. Disc brakes also eliminate the unpleasant scraping of the brakes and the grey aluminium brake sludge.

- Info: The clamping mechanisms of the struts differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. Details can be found in the manufacturer's assembly instructions.
