If your bike is constantly cracking, creaking or crackling, this is usually caused by the drive. TOUR shows you how to stop your bike from bothering you while cycling.

Degree of difficulty:
- for every hobby screwdriver

Tool:
- Bottom bracket tool, hexagon socket, torque spanner

Auxiliary materials:
- Spray oil, chain oil, assembly grease, wax, carbon assembly paste

TIPS
- Loud trains:
Trains can crack when their metal sleeves move in the abutments. Therefore, apply penetrating oil to all contact points and move the cables in the mounts. Don't forget the cable guide under the bottom bracket. Give the oil time to creep into the gaps and wipe off any excess oil before the next ride.

- Loud discs:
Cleats for clipless pedals occasionally creak, especially if they are worn. Lightly grease the contact points or replace worn cleats.

- Loud quick release:
Very light quick-release levers in particular tend to creak. Dismantle them, drizzle penetrating oil inside and operate the lever several times to distribute the oil. Before refitting the tensioner, wipe off any excess oil. Caution: A freshly lubricated tensioner provides greater clamping force with the same manual force.
