Wales is made for cycling: Challenging climbs await in the mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia). After strenuous stages, you will be rewarded with spectacular views over tranquil mountain lakes such as Llyn Padarn and long descents.
Off the beaten track, secluded paths and tracks invite you to enjoy wonderful gravel tours, such as on the Mawddach Trail towards the sea near Barmouth. There are wonderful towpaths along idyllic canals and cycle paths on former railway lines.
Mountain bikers can find crisp trails and downhill rides at various mountain bike centres and if you're an ambitious cyclist, you can ride across Wales on some of the UK's best long-distance cycle routes, such as the Lôn Las Cymru, or on wonderful cycle tours along the 1400-kilometre Wales Coast Path - always with the sea firmly in view.
A taste of the big time: on 4 July 2027, stage 3 of the Tour de France from Welshpool to Cardiff will take you through some of the country's most beautiful and challenging landscapes. Find more inspiration and route tips here: Visit Wales
