Vecnum freeQENCE: the ultimate suspension stem sets new standards
The freeQENCE suspension stem was developed by the Allgäu-based manufacturer Vecnum for gravel bikes, racing bikes, cyclocross bikes, touring bikes and unsprung (e-)bikes. The aim was to offer comparable performance to suspension forks in the gravel segment, but at a significantly lower weight. The test in the BIKE Gravel Special 2021 confirms that this has been successful. The stem sets standards in terms of comfort and handling and provides a significant increase in riding enjoyment and safety, especially in demanding riding situations. At 30 mm, the freeQENCE stem currently offers the longest suspension travel on the market, comes with damping and sag and effectively reduces vibrations and bumps by up to 75%.
Lightweight - 287 grams
The matt black anodised eye-catcher with lasered lettering is excellently finished and weighs in at just 287 grams with a length of 90 mm, i.e. only around 150 grams more than a standard stem.
Available in 3 lengths - 90, 105, 120 millimetres
Elementary design principle - parallelogram
The multi-link stem has several advantages over single link/single pivot stems. With the parallelogram of the freeQENCE, the handlebars do not tilt during compression. The rider can therefore spend time in the hoods, drop or top position - the characteristics and performance of the suspension and damping are not negatively affected.
Sophisticated suspension and damping system with sag
The outstanding comfort characteristics of the freeQENCE are achieved by the ingenious internal suspension and damping system with sag. The stem can be infinitely adjusted to the rider's weight and intended use from the outside in a user-friendly manner.
The maximum available suspension travel of 30 mm is divided into 20 mm positive suspension travel and 10 mm negative suspension travel - similar to a suspension fork. The spring characteristic of the freeQENCE is homogeneous and linear with strong end progression. This ensures that the suspension stem does its job completely silently, even on rougher terrain.
Uncomplicated retrofitting
Retrofitting is extremely simple: it is installed in the same way as a standard A-head stem and can be done in just a few minutes. Thanks to the Open Face 4 screw clamp, nothing needs to be removed from the handlebars. The suspension stem is compatible with all
1 ⅛ inch forks with a minimum free stem length of 42 mm. The clamp is suitable for all handlebars with a 31.8 mm diameter.
Made in Germany
In order to realise the high quality standards, Vecnum develops, manufactures and tests under one roof in the Allgäu region. Incidentally, Vecnum also has the quality of the stem certified by the EFBE test laboratory in accordance with their test standards for gravel stems and handlebars.
