The perennial favourite among marathon bikes was given a new look last autumn. Compared to the CFR version the CF 7 is based on a heavier frameset without the integrated storage compartment, aero-optimised fork and leaf spring seatpost. Instead, a round carbon seatpost with an aluminium head is used, which offers almost the same level of suspension thanks to the deep clamp: Only a few other models offer eleven millimetres of suspension travel on the seat post. In combination with the very comfortable aero cockpit, the high-quality tyres, the upright riding position and mountain-ready gearing, the Endurace is a loyal companion on long tours.
It also easily takes on gravel and forest paths under tyres up to 35 millimetres wide. The rather high overall weight is worthy of criticism; the simple aluminium wheelset from DT Swiss alone accounts for around 40 percent. Whether you need a storage compartment integrated into the top tube like the CFR, which is more than three times as expensive, or stow your puncture repair kit in a bolted-on top tube bag like on the CF 7 is a matter of taste. This also applies to the "sticky" saddle, which could also be replaced relatively cheaply.
Overall grade of the Canyon Endurace CF 7: 2.1
