They swear by these tyres glued to rims because they grip and roll better and are less prone to punctures than folding and tubeless tyres. A good address for tubular cross tyres is the Italian brand Challenge. For a good year now, our long-time favourite from the Challenge range, the classic Grifo, has had a serious competitor. Compared to the Grifo, the Baby Limus has more pronounced lugs and therefore allows significantly higher cornering speeds on soft surfaces without rolling noticeably heavier. As an all-rounder, it is therefore recommended for riders who do not prepare a special wheelset for every surface. We rode the Baby Limus in the expensive Team Edition version with a cotton carcass. This rolls a little more easily than the version with a nylon casing, but also seems to be more susceptible to punctures. Within one season, we had two punctures with the Baby Limus after punctures, compared to only one in several years with the Grifo with nylon casing. Our tip is therefore the Baby Limus in the nylon version, which is also slightly cheaper.
PLUS Sensational grip and comfort, low rolling resistance
MINUS more puncture-prone than with nylon carcass, rapid air loss due to latex tube
