Vittoria is expanding its range of road bike tyres with the Corsa N.EXT models with nylon carcass, which are positioned between the very fast Vittoria Corsa models with cotton carcass and the heavier Rubino tyres. Available widths: 24 to 34 millimetres. We subjected the 26mm tubeless-ready model to a rolling resistance test: At 20.3/28.7 watts (at 6.5 bar), the new rubber lies between the Rubino and Corsa tyres and, at 274 grams, is relatively light and narrow: On a 17C rim, the road bike tyre measures just under 26 millimetres. From a width of 28 millimetres, TLR tyres are also approved for hookless rims. For the clincher models, Vittoria recommends its new ultra-light speed tubes made of TPU material.
Michelin presents a new family of road bike tyres: The Power Cup line with the new Gum-X tread compound is available as tubeless-ready, clincher and tubular tyres. The latter two are available in 23, 25 and 28 millimetre widths, tubeless in 25, 28 and 32 millimetre widths; production takes place in Thailand.
We have already been able to take a close look at the 28 tubeless tyre. It weighs 282 grams and expands to a generous 29.5 millimetres wide on a 17C rim. At 5.5 bar, we measured a pleasingly low rolling resistance of 15.8/21.7 watts (smooth/rough road) - only a few road bike tyres manage this, especially on rough ground the rolling resistance values are excellent.
With a new tread pattern - only very slight scales in the centre - the Schwalbe G-One RS seconds shoulder lug tyre should make an impression in gravel races. The 527 gram tubeless-ready models measure 44 millimetres wide on our 22C rim and roll at 22.7/28.3 watts (smooth/rough road, 3 bar), which is very snappy for off-road tyres. Especially on rough surfaces, the tyre is faster than previous versions of the G-One in the TOUR test. Pirelli has also designed a new gravel race tyre, but with a more pronounced tread pattern in the centre than the Schwalbe model. However, we do not yet have any measured values for the Cinturato Gravel RC tyre.
Continental is offering the "TdF" time trial version of its 5000 model as a limited edition. For 99.99 euros each, you get a wafer-thin 215 grams of rubber - very light for a road bike tyre that is tubeless-ready with a width of 25 millimetres. Conti promises a 17-second advantage over the normal 5000 model over 40 kilometres, which is one of the fastest tyres that TOUR has ever measured.
