Pirelli is expanding its range of Cinturato gravel tyres: The RH and RM models are made from FSC-certified natural rubber at the Milan-Bollate plant. The abbreviations stand for different surfaces, and both tyres are available in four colours and sizes from 40 to 55 millimetres.

The two new gravel tyres are part of the high-quality High Performance Line and are produced entirely in Italy. Pirelli is thus successively expanding its portfolio of tyres produced at its home base. The letter R characterises the racing orientation of both models, while H for Hard and M for Mixed describe the respective surfaces. The development draws on experience from motorsport and MTB XC competition.

Profile design and areas of application

The Cinturato Gravel RH is optimised for compact and fast surfaces. The tread design features a completely smooth centre strip that maximises the contact patch and improves rolling resistance on asphalt and firm gravel. Pronounced side lugs provide traction and enable precise cornering behaviour. According to the manufacturer, the RH has the lowest rolling resistance in the entire Pirelli gravel range.

The Cinturato Gravel RM utilises a tread design previously known as RC. The tread pattern offers a compromise between grip and rolling resistance for changing conditions between fast sections and technically demanding passages. The design is intended to provide stability in corners and reliable traction when accelerating and braking on loose and mixed surfaces.

Carcass and rubber compound

Both models use the ProWALL Gravel carcass made of 120 TPI nylon, which was derived from the brand's XC racing tyres. The construction is designed to offer ride feel, control and puncture protection. The SmartEVO GR rubber compound was specially developed for performance-orientated off-road gravel use. The composition is designed to combine low rolling resistance with grip in dry and wet conditions.

The FSC-certified natural rubber used makes up at least 15 percent of the total weight of the tyres. Production at the Milan-Bollate plant enables control over materials and manufacturing processes.

Product lines and range

The High Performance Line represents the technological pinnacle of Pirelli's gravel range. Development and production take place at the company's own factory in Milan-Bollate, utilising material expertise from motorsport and the XC-MTB sector.

The more affordable Performance Line is based on proven technologies from the existing gravel portfolio. These tyres use a different carcass with a 60-TPI construction and a different rubber compound called SpeedGRIP. The P-Line is aimed at riders who want to cover different facets of gravel cycling.

Availability and equipment

The Cinturato Gravel RH and RM are already available online and from specialist dealers. The High Performance Line is available in four colour variants: classic black, classic brown, Retrò and the Team Edition with yellow racing labels. The size spectrum ranges from 40-622 to 55-622.
