TOUR endurance test 6,000 km: Schwalbe One tyres
The chase is slowly turning into a neck-and-neck race: Schwalbe's tyre designers have set themselves the goal of challenging perennial test winner Continental for the top spot in road bike tyres.

With the new top model Schwalbe One, the tyre experts from the Oberbergischen are already very close to their goal. In the TOUR test (Issue 1/14->) the tyre was only a few tenths of a mark behind the class leader, the GP 4000S, and impressed with its high puncture resistance and very good wet grip. A pair of tyres with a width of 25 millimetres has now completed one cycling season and has proven itself to be a perfect all-rounder. The wide tyre conveys a full riding impression, the steering behaviour is neutral. With a rider weight of 75 kilograms, a tyre pressure of just under 7 bar proved to be the ideal compromise between comfort and smooth running. Although lighter than the direct Conti competitor, the One still has plenty of rubber on the tread, which enables a respectable mileage. The rear tyre remained puncture-free for almost 6,000 kilometres; it is now slightly worn but still resistant to cuts and small stones. On the front tyre, the distance - apart from the puncture through
through a southern Italian bramble thorn - has passed almost without a trace.
