Continental is expanding its road bike tyre portfolio with a new entry-level model with tubeless-ready technology. According to the manufacturer, the Grand Prix TR is intended to make the advantages of the premium tyres accessible to a wider audience. The new tyre is based on the popular Grand Prix 5000 family and incorporates proven technologies such as the BlackChili Compound. This is designed to combine low rolling resistance with good grip. A new 4-layer construction aims to combine low weight with good puncture protection.
The Grand Prix TR was developed for cyclists looking for a reliable endurance tyre. Continental is positioning the tyre as a versatile and durable option for training, commuting or long-distance rides. Thanks to the tubeless-ready design, the tyre should offer smooth and safe handling on various road surfaces. Hannah Ferle, Product Manager at Continental Tyres, explains: "With the Grand Prix TR, we have managed to make tubeless-ready technology, strong puncture protection and excellent rolling resistance accessible to a wider audience."
Continental announces the global sales launch for 4 March 2025. The recommended retail price is 61.95 euros per tyre. This means it costs just under 20 euros less than the popular top model, the Grand Prix 5000 S TR.
The Continental Grand Prix TR is available in four sizes: 25-622, 28-622, 30-622 and 32-622 and, according to the manufacturer, the weight starts at 310 grams. In addition to the tubeless-ready version, Continental is also planning a tube-type option for selected sizes. The tyre is available in two colour variants: completely black or with a transparent sidewall. The Grand Prix TR is also compatible with hookless rims.
