The Continental GP 4000 was the test winner in the TOUR tyre tests for years. In the meantime, the competition has also followed suit (see TOUR tyre test 28 mm). With its successor, the GP 5000, Conti is once again trying to gain a lead. It is said to be superior to the GP 4000 S II in terms of rolling resistance, mileage and puncture protection. Continental claims that puncture protection is 20 per cent better and rolling resistance is 12 per cent lower.
A tubeless model is new. The GP 5000 TL is said to roll five per cent lighter than the GP 5000. The next TOUR test will clarify whether the manufacturer's claims can be confirmed.
