Tyre manufacturer Onza is expanding its portfolio with the new Allegra X Gravel tyre series. The product line comprises six different tread designs for different purposes.

With the new Allegra X series, Onza presents a comprehensive collection of gravel tyres. The product line consists of six different tread designs, which are graded according to aggressiveness and range from the fast, road-orientated X1 to the off-road X6. According to the manufacturer, the numbering is deliberately kept simple: The higher the number, the more aggressive the tread and the more traction the tyre offers off-road. All models in the series are available immediately and cost 59.90 euros each.

The technical basis of all Allegra X tyres, referred to by the manufacturer as GEC construction (gravel-specific tyre construction), combines a 120 TPI carcass with a special rubber compound, a tubeless-ready coating and a nylon 105 fabric that extends from bead to bead. This construction is intended to combine low weight with high tear and abrasion resistance. All models are available with both black and classic light-coloured sidewalls.

From tarmac to off-road: the six model variants

The Allegra X1 model is designed as the fastest tyre in the series and is aimed at riders who mainly ride on asphalt and light gravel roads. The semi-slick centre tread is designed to minimise rolling resistance, while the lugs, which are more pronounced towards the tyre shoulder, should grip reliably on firm surfaces and light gravel. The X1 is available in the sizes 700x35C, 700x40C, 700x45C and 700x50C, with weights ranging from 490 grams (35 millimetres) to 640 grams (50 millimetres) depending on the size.

The Allegra X2 is positioned as a versatile all-rounder for everyday use, from commuting to weekend excursions. Its tread pattern consists of evenly spaced hexagonal lugs which, according to the manufacturer, roll quickly and evenly and, thanks to their shape, offer additional stability and predictable handling when conditions change. The X2 is available in the sizes 700x40C with 480 grams and 700x50C with 610 grams.

For long distances and challenging terrain

The Allegra X3 was specially developed for long tours and changing surfaces. Its design combines a tightly packed centre tread for speed with more aggressive side lugs for safe cornering. Onza describes the X3 as the ideal companion for riders who pursue "horizons rather than finish lines". It is available in the sizes 700x40C with 520 grams and 700x50C with 610 grams.

The Allegra X4 is designed for competition use. A compact centre tread should keep the speed high, while hook-shaped side lugs and open transitions should ensure grip and repel dirt at the same time. The X4 is available in the sizes 700x40C and 700x45C, with the 40 millimetre model weighing 515 grams.

For adverse conditions and technical terrain

The Allegra X5 is aimed at riders who are out and about in all weather conditions. With a tread pattern designed for wet, muddy and loose terrain, it should offer reliable traction even in adverse conditions. The V-shaped centre lugs provide propulsion, while the wide side blocks are designed to repel mud and grip deeply. The X5 is available in the sizes 700x40C with 520 grams and 700x50C with 610 grams.

The Allegra X6 is the most aggressive tyre in the range, designed for demanding terrain. With high side lugs for maximum grip in bends and bevelled centre lugs for reduced rolling resistance, it should, according to Onza, perform well on loose ground, rocks and slippery single trails. The X6 is available in the sizes 700x45C and 700x50C, although ONZA does not provide any specific weight information for this model.
