Tried and tested: Tanita analyser scales
This so-called segmented body analysis scale is probably no more concealed than the screening machines that will allow full visibility at airports in the future. Using precise weighing technology and dosed current flow through the foot and hand electrodes, bioelectric resistance analysis is used to determine body fat, muscle mass and bone mass as well as weight - for the torso and all limbs individually.

The electronic sleepyhead also calculates the body mass index (BMI), daily calorie requirement, body water percentage, fat percentage of the internal organs and biological age. The scales memorise the values of up to four people and store them on an SD card, which can be used to transfer the data to a PC. Experts argue about whether the calculated values are really accurate in absolute terms. In any case, the attraction lies more in observing the values over a longer period of time: if you want to lose weight or remodel your body through sport, the progression of the values makes it very easy to observe whether it is really only fat or muscle mass that is losing or gaining along with the pounds.
