Garmin's flagship chest strap for heart rate measurement is the only device in the test that costs more than 100 euros, but also has some functions that are otherwise reserved for smartwatches, such as tracking steps, calories and intensity ranges. This is precisely where Garmin sees the purpose of the device: as a stopgap for times when you can't wear your smartwatch. The chest strap can record 18 hours of activity before it has to transfer the data to the Garmin Connect app to free up storage space. This creates a complete training profile in the app with many useful, well-organised parameters. Pairing with Garmin products is straightforward, but there are some problems with devices from other manufacturers. As the HRM-Pro supports an unlimited number of connections via ANT+ and two Bluetooth connections, simultaneous pairing with the smartphone app, smartwatch and on-board computer is possible. The strap is comfortable to wear and the module is firmly attached to the strap. An extension strap is available for 10 euros.
