A dozen Strava segments on the same climb? This will soon be a thing of the past: Strava wants to delete two million segments to improve clarity. Duplicate segments or those that only cover a short section of an established segment will be deleted.

In addition, particularly important segments are marked by Strava - the addition reads "Verified cycling segment". This is intended, for example, to define a route with a clear start and finish point on iconic climbs such as Mont Ventoux, Stelvio Pass and others.

Strava wants to clean out leaderboards

These prestigious routes, in particular, were previously uncontrolled. Strava promises to clean out the leaderboards too - suspicious records will be filtered out automatically: The new filter should recognise road bike rides that are saved as a run, a KOM on an e-bike or a record that continues on a bike in a car.
