Strava introduces new functions: Off-road tours can now be classified as Gravel Ride, Trail Run, Mountain Bike and E-Mountain Bike. And if you have a Strava Premium account, you have access to new trail routes.

Strava is breaking new ground: more than 100 million people trust the social platform for sport and sporting activities. On 8 June 2022, Strava carried out an off-road update. This means that high-growth trail sports are finally also supported: Gravel biking, trail running, mountain biking and E-MTB. In addition to the Tracking these sports the Route function extended.

Four new activity types

The growth of off-road sports has not passed Strava by. According to Strava, trail sports, which include gravel biking, are growing twice as fast as sports on tarmac. It's high time to establish them among the activities on the tracking platform. Strava users can now choose from more than 35 activity types.

Trail routes as a premium feature

If you pay for a premium Strava account, you can use other new Strava functions. When planning routes, popular route types and starting points are highlighted depending on the activity type.

Route planning with detailed insights

Stravas route planning updates provide new insights and route details supported by the global community's activity trends. These include, for example, route difficulty, community completion times and data visualisations of gradient and difficulty.

Strava Maps: 3D map in the activity feed

Another new feature is the 3D map in the activity feed. Premium users can choose between different map views for uploaded activities. A new feature here is the option to select a 3D map.
