Shortly before the top of the pass, the south-east ramp leans back pleasantly. Time to enjoy the landscape.
Alongside the Stilfser Joch, Gaviapass and Großglockner Hochtor, the Passo del Rombo, as the Timmelsjoch is called in Italian, is one of the highest passes in the Eastern Alps at 2,474 metres.

Even if there is once again curious disagreement about the altitude of the crossing - after all, there is a gap of 35 metres in altitude between the (incorrect) information on the pass (2,509 metres) and the value on the official topo map - the route, which has only been continuously accessible since 1968, is one of the must-do tours for climbers. The south-east ramp coming up from the Passeiertal Valley is a particular test of stamina with almost 1,800 metres in altitude. While the road still climbs moderately for the first six kilometres, the inclinometer barely drops below eight per cent from the village of Moos. You shouldn't get too excited about the slightly easier section between kilometres 15 and 19 - the high-percentage bill follows afterwards.
