From Grindelwald to Bormio in three days, we don't think that's bad. Roger and I have been travelling over passes together for years. He's the scooter, I'm the climber. Now we have the same longing: The Adriatic. But longing is sometimes dangerous. If you have two or three passes on your daily programme, it tempts you to burn yourself out early on. That's why the rule on the first pass is that they both ride cautiously and no-one breaks away. If the duo take it easy at the start, they will have more strength and courage for the second and third courses of the day's mountainous menu.
The pass tour from the Bernese Oberland to the Adriatic leads along a good part of the Central and Eastern Alps through Switzerland, Italy and Slovenia. In Switzerland, the journey goes from the Bernese to the Grisons Alps, in Italy from Valtellina to Veneto, in Slovenia it follows the course of the Soca.
