Tuscany in central Italy is one of the most famous cultural landscapes in Europe. Its south borders the provinces of Lazio and Umbria. The gentle hills covered with olive trees and pines are also characteristic of southern Tuscany, as are olive groves, fields and vineyards. The route is always up and down, with only a few flatter sections on the way to the sea through the former marshland of the Maremma. If you want to visit the beautiful Etruscan towns, you always have to go uphill because they are perched high up on tufa rocks. The roads are mostly in good condition and outside of the hot summer months there is little traffic.
