Tour 1: The heavily fortified San Leo is one of Italy's most beautiful villages.
The hilly hinterland of the northern Italian region of Emilia Romagna requires a lot of power in the legs - even the region's biggest race for everyone is called "Nove Colli", nine hills. But those who master the climbs between the Adriatic and the Apennines are rewarded with fantastic views - and Italian delicacies.

The hilly hinterland of Riccione is criss-crossed by a dense network of roads. The many small roads with little traffic are mostly in good condition. However, there is the occasional pothole, so you should take care on descents. Drivers seem to be used to racing cyclists, as they are usually considerate. The Nove Colli race for everyone proves just how strenuous tours through the hills behind the coast are, with participants having to conquer 3,840 metres in altitude over 200 kilometres. So you can really push yourself to the limit, and an appropriate gear ratio is required for the bike. However, if you don't want it so tough, there are also wide valleys that lead into the hinterland and enable tours with fewer metres in altitude. Not far from Riccione, you can also cycle along the steep coast of the Monte San Bartolo Nature Park on slightly undulating terrain through a sparse forest.
