The brick signpost hill at the top of the Col de l'Iseran pass offers good protection from the wind on bad days.
The 677-kilometre Route des Grandes Alpes leads from Lake Geneva to the Côte d'Azur. The most famous Tour de France passes are lined up here. More than 16,000 metres in altitude, spread over seven days, demand a certain degree of endurance from the cyclist.
