Fine loops: Ascent from the east to the Col de Menté
The neighbouring passes Portet d'Aspet (1,069 m) and Col de Menté (1,349 m) lie at the junction of the Central and Eastern Pyrenees.

After the Col de Menté, you usually cross the Col de Portet d'Aspet - or climb the other way round. However, if you prefer, you can also start from the small village of Aspet in the north and choose just one pass at the fork between the passes near Henne-Morte. If you start in Saint-Béat, you will have to climb just under 850 metres to the Col de Menté and almost 450 metres to the Col de Portet d'Aspet. In comparison: the western ascent to the legendary Col du Tourmalet is more than 1,400 metres in altitude. Nevertheless, the two smaller passes also play a role in the history of the Tour de France.
