TOUR Transalp stage 7: Lavarone - Riva del Garda

Passports: Passo del Sommo, Passo Bordala, Passo Santa Barbara
Difficulty: 4/5

No matter how spectacular the previous stages may have been, nothing beats the feeling of happiness on arrival in Riva del Garda. But the last stage is no walk in the park: 1,800 metres of climbing await you - spread over a distance of around 80 kilometres. Heading towards Lake Garda, the Passo del Sommo, a 250 metre high pass from Carbonare to Folgaria, builds up first. The main road, which leads through the valley from Rovereto to Riva del Garda, is impossible for a cycling event like the TOUR Transalp and is skilfully bypassed. From Aldeno, past the idyllic Lago di Cei to Passo Bordala at an altitude of 1,251 metres. It's 1100 metres up from the valley. So this last day also has one more official mountain test in store. The pass first leads into the Val di Gresta, a high valley characterised by fields and farmland in front of Lake Garda. The short, winding descent on the narrow valley pass road first leads to Ronzo-Chienis and then turns off to the last pass of this Transalp, the Passo Santa Barbara, which still rises 1,000 metres above Lake Garda. A narrow road winds its way down through the forest to Bolognano. In the harbour of Riva del Garda, a broad smile is guaranteed to spread across the faces of all finishers.
