Austria's Felix Gall rode to second place at the start of the Tour of the Alps 2023. British rider Tao Geoghegan Hart secured victory on the day.

Top result for Felix Gall on stage 1 of the Tour of the Alps 2023. The Austrian from Team AG2R-Citroën took second place on the first stage after 127.5 kilometres between Rattenberg and Alpbach. The day's victory in the tough opening stage of the five-day race through Austria and northern Italy went to Tao Geoghegan Hart from Ineos Grenadierswho also took the lead in the overall standings.



Bora-Hansgrohe pros Vlasov and Kämna in the top 10

The German team also made a good impression Bora-Hansgrohe with places five through Aleksandr Vlasov and eighth place through Lennard Kämna. The duo was able to keep up with the best for a long time, but had to let go on the final ramp in the last few kilometres.

The race continues on Tuesday with stage 2, which leads over 165.2 kilometres from Reith im Alpbachtal to Ritten. The Tour of the Alps 2023 is the last test of form for many riders before the Giro d'Italiawhich begins on 6 May.
