Demi Vollering remains the dominant force in women's cycling this season. The Dutch Tour de France winner also won the penultimate tour of the year on the Women's WorldTour (WWT) with the Tour de Romandie Feminin.

However, the 2nd edition of the three-day tour through western Switzerland was a tight affair. Just two seconds made the difference on stage 2. Vollering (SD Worx) won the queen stage with a mountain top finish two seconds ahead of Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon//SRAM) - bonuses made it six seconds in the final standings. The Swiss rider Marlen Reusser (SD Worx) was also only distanced by six seconds on the decisive stage.

"The stage win on Saturday was half the battle," said Vollering in a statement from her team after the tour. "But I also knew that we still had a tricky day ahead of us."



Only 25 riders reached the finish of stage 3 together after many attacks. The fastest of these was Liane Lippert (Movistar), who won the sprint ahead of Fem van Empel (Jumbo-Visma) and thus took her second victory at the WWT this year - her second victory in a row. after the 2nd stage of the Tour de France - celebrated.

Also taking part: Ricarda Bauernfeind (Canyon//SRAM). 12th place on the stage was enough to defend 6th place in the overall standings. This in turn meant the white jersey for the best young rider for the 23-year-old, ahead of Anna Shackley (SD Worx). "Finishing another stage race in the top 10 gives me a lot of confidence," said Bauernfeind in a team statement. "It motivates me to continue working on my weaknesses in the winter. The fact that it was enough for the white jersey in the end is a really great result of the great teamwork we put in."
