An individual time trial awaits the professional cyclists on stage 5 of the Tour de France 2025. The route with start and finish in Caen measures 33 kilometres. The riders will start the race in reverse order of the overall classification. TOUR provides an overview of the start times.
Kazakh Yevgeniy Fedorov from Team XDS-Astana will be the first to start the race at 13:05. The competition will be concluded by Tadej Pogacar and Mathieu van der Poel, the man in the yellow jersey. They will roll off the start ramp at 16:58 and 17:00 respectively. The riding time for each participant is calculated at around 37 minutes - for an average speed of 54 km/h. The starting distance for about half of the participants is one minute at the beginning. The gap is then extended to 1:30 minutes. At the end, the top riders, namely the last 16 starters, leave the ramp two minutes apart.
Flat route
From the point of view of the German fans, the classification riders are particularly interesting: Emanuel Buchmann and Florian Lipowitz will roll off the start ramp at 16:16:30 and 16:24:00 respectively. The course is largely flat. In total, it has just under 200 metres of elevation gain. The top favourite is the world and Olympic champion in the individual time trial, the Belgian Remco Evenepoel. He starts the race at 16:44.
