The VolkerWessels Women's Pro Cycling Team is travelling to the Tour de France Femmes 2025 with a broad-based squad. The Dutch team is relying on young up-and-coming riders with the experienced Valerie Demey leading the way. The team will probably not have a real chance of winning the Tour overall, which is why the team's squad will be chasing stages. With strong one-day race riders, this surprise could work out.
The hilly stages, with the possibility of a breakaway group, are suitable for some of the team's riders. Demay and Lonneke Uneken are two classics specialists who can shine on this terrain. The 23-year-old Eline Jansen, on the other hand, could seize her chance on the mountainous stages of the second half of the tour.
Jansen is also the most promising rider for the overall classification and could sniff the top 10 if she has a perfect tour. In the battle for the best young rider's jersey, the Dutchwoman is regularly among the front runners. She has yet to achieve any great results in the overall classification, but the trend is pointing upwards. Margot Vanpachtenbeke will probably act as the second leader, or strong helper. The Belgian won a stage in the highly competitive Thüringen Ladies Tour in 2024 and finished tenth overall in this year's Tour of Norway. A double lead-out is also possible, with the stronger of the two riders taking on the role of captain in the first mountain stage.
